The challenge
When I came across Nick's Little Engine Shop, the shop didn't have a working website. It had a Google Business Profile and a Facebook page, but no site of its own.
I reached out and offered to build one. That’s when I learned the business was changing: it was moving from selling lawnmowers to repairing small engines.
So that’s what I built: a custom website for a small engine repair shop, laid out around the change Nick was making.
The work
In November 2025, I noticed the shop’s Google Business Profile still described the old business. I reached out, and in December I got access.
I changed the profile from a lawnmower store to a small engine repair shop and added the services Nick now offers, including ATV and motorcycle repair, work the shop had never offered before. Every detail was set up to match where the business was actually heading.
The goal: when someone nearby searches for a service the shop offers, they find Nick. I tracked the results with local heat maps to watch the shop’s visibility spread across the area.
The results
In December 2025, with the new site live and the profile rebuilt, I measured the shop on local heat maps. By July 2026 it was first for all four services. Switch between the two dates for each search.
